Welcoming Address
Good afternoon. I would like to sincerely welcome and congratulate all of you who are here in Korea looking for your roots. This year we celebrate the 21st anniversary of JOURNEY program for all Korean Overseas Adoptees. Although there are only few participants this year, compared to previous years with more than 20 participants, it is my pleasure to meet every one of you.
Korea is a wonderfully beautiful country that progresses day by day. Our language HanGul, which was invented in the mid-15th century, is globally renown for its scientific excellence. Despite countless aggression from foregin powers due to its geographically strategic location, Korea firmly defended its land from numerous attempts of invasion. However, being divided into South and North with differing ideologies without achieving reunification is a sad reality. Nevertheless, Korea successfully hosted the Seoul Olympics in 1988 and the Korea-Japan World Cup in 2002, in which it accomplished a splendid feat of winning the fourth place. Korea is currently a global role model of successful industrial development and its cultural excellence.
This country with numerous other strengths is your motherland Korea, which you can be proud of. I hope this visit will be an opportunity for everyone to discover and reaffirm your roots and identity as Korean. I also hope that the self-consciousness or misunderstanding you might have felt from different appearances as you grew up can be transformed into a strong pride from now on.
We, JinHeungMoonHwa Company, have much pride in helping many Korean adoptees like yourselves by showing diverse aspects of homeland and identifying one's roots through our JOURNEY program. Although each of us has different living backgrounds, we feel that all of us are brothers and sisters of the same blood, and we will do our best to introduce more about your motherland for next couple of weeks.
If you had learned about Korea only indirectly before, from today on, find out about the "Real Korea" through seeing, listening, and experiencing with open minds and eager willingness and make all the joy of the experience yours in its entirety. I hope your visit here will be a meaningful and beautiful time, which stirs up love and deep feeling about your motherland Korea.
At the same time, I would like to thank our host families and volunteers. We do appreciate your help every year, and I hope that you also have a wonderful time with each other.

입양아초청모국방문 환영사
안녕하십니까? 자신의 뿌리를 찾아 모국방문 초청에 응하여 한국에 오신 여러분들을 진심으로 환영하고 축하합니다. 여러분과 같은 입양인 들을 초청하여 모국방문 프로그램을 시작한 것이 올해로 스물한 번째입니다. 예년의 20여명이던 때에 비하여 올해는 참가자 수가 적어서 아쉽습니다. 그러나 매년 새로운 분들을 맞이할 때마다 매우 기쁘고 대견스럽고 아주 자랑스럽습니다.
한국은 여러분들이 감탄할 만큼 아름답고, 나날이 발전해가는 나라입니다. 세종대왕이 15세기 중엽에 만든 한글은 세계인들로부터 찬사를 받고 있습니다. 한국은 지정학적으로 요지에 놓여있어 외세침입을 수없이 겪었지만 영토를 굳건히 지켜낸 나라입니다. 다만 남북이 이념을 달리하며 통일을 이루지 못한 게 가슴 아픈 현실입니다. 그러나 한국은 88서울올림픽과 2002월드컵을 성공적으로 개최하며 세계4강의 쾌거를 일구었고 지금 세계가 부러워하는 나라입니다.
이 밖에도 수많은 장점들을 가진 나라가, 바로 여러분의 모국 자랑스러운 대한민국입니다. 이번 모국방문을 통해 한국인으로서의 뿌리를 찾고, 정체성을 회복하는 계기가 되기를 바랍니다. 또한, 자라온 과정에서 외모가 다르다는 것 때문에 소외되고 위축되었던 마음과 오해나 열등감을 이제부터는 오히려 자부심으로 바꿀 수 있기를 바랍니다.
저희 진흥문화(주)는 해외입양인 초청 모국방문행사를 통해 그동안 여러분과 같은 많은 입양인 들에게 조국의 여러 면모를 보여주고 뿌리를 찾고 정체성을 회복하는 일을 해온 것에 대하여 자부심을 갖습니다. 서로 각각 삶의 터전은 다르지만, 같은 피가 흐르는 한 형제라고 생각하며 여러분에게 앞으로 두 주간동안 모국을 알리고 보여드리는 데에 최선을 다할 것입니다.
그동안 간접적으로 한국에 관한 것을 접했다면, 오늘부터는 열린 마음과 적극적인 의지를 가지고 "진짜대한민국"을 보고, 듣고, 체험을 통해 기쁨과 행복을 온전히 여러분의 것으로 소유하시기를 바랍니다. 이번모국방문 기간 동안 한국에 대한 애정과 감동을 불러일으키는 아름다운 시간되기를 바랍니다.
한편 이번 홈스테이를 위해 수고하실 민박가정들, 자원봉사로 헌신하시는 분들, 진심으로 감사드립니다. 매년 이 일에 기쁨으로 참여하고 자원봉사 하는 분들에게 진심으로 감사합니다. 피차가 좋은 추억을 만드시기 바랍니다. 다시 한 번 오늘 이 자리에 참석하신 모든 분들을 진심으로 환영하면서 감사 인사를 드립니다.
